As Serena got older, her senses started to fade; Fenir heavily blamed it on how hard she constantly worked, although he had no proof to back the statement up with. Despite his claims she kept working straight up to the day where she threw her back out while trying to harvest her lengthy field of crops, never one for using those fancy machines. That was the end of that.

In the later years of her middle-age, she took a fine hand at baking; Fenir was weary, but found that she was rather good at it. Years of seasoning had finally caught up to her. All was fine and well, the two sat across from each other at the table, enjoying a slice of cherry pie over Serena's chatter that, unlike her weakening bones, refused to quit.

Fenir grew accustomed to her chatter not long into their marriage, now, after forty years of being bonded, he found himself able to keep up.

Serena then fell silent and sniffed. Confused, she sniffed again, before leaning back in her chair, quiet for the first time in ages.

"It's true, then, I really can't smell." She laughed, happy despite herself. "I thought there was something wrong with this old smeller of mine. Be a dear, Fenir, and tell me what the pie smells like?"

And he did. For years to come after that, Fenir would struggle with every word he could think of to describe all the smells to his beloved; he would tell her about the scent of pies, the fresh cut grass, the sweet smelling laundry fresh off the clothes line. He spared her no details, because it was the least he could do to make her happy, which he reminded her often whenever she would thank him.

Fenir never told her, however, that he hadn't smelled anything since he was a child, and he was hit in the nose with a stone.

Poor Fenir! I have no words. I'm just really sad now. I dunno, maybe I'll go eat some chocolate cake or something... Yeah, I don't really have anything constructive to say, so good bye.
